Why is the trim kit on backorder for months now. I bought a new microwave and am now waiting for this trim kit so it can be installed. There are no other options other than this trim kit and GE does not have it available in any stores? Not very good customer experience. May need to return the microwave and not buy GE products in the future.

Trim kit

The front top left corner immediately started to pull away from the base trim after installation. Now the entire top has pulled away after less than 2 weeks after installation.

Installation was almost impossible! Screws too short. Alignment very difficult. PLEASE HAVE YOUR ENGINEERS TRY AND INSTALL!

Terrible design

The door switch on my (brand new) GE microwave broke so now the door won't open. In order to repair it, we need to remove the trim kit. In order to remove the trim kit, we need to be able to open the door to access the screws. Worst. Design. Ever.

Gaping hole between kit and cabinet

I try to be an informed consumer and do my due diligence. But I wish had looked more closely at the low ratings before settling on this product. After years of great service with a GE Profile microwave, I chose this microwave. It took 2 months to get delivered from the store, but my excitement quickly turned to disappointment. I have purchased GE appliances exclusively for 30 years and was shocked at the sub-standard quality of this item. The worst complaint is the poorly designed trim kit that DOES NOT FIT FLUSH AND LEAVES A GAPING HOLE BETWEEN THE OVEN AND THE CABINET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GE staffer told me this new design allows the microwave to "vent". Vent? I'm the only one who needs to vent. The old trim kit fit flush against the wall and looked "finished". This kit looks H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E. It is not an installations issue, it is a DESIGN ISSUE!!!!!! GE should provide an alternative that fits flush against the wall, not with this "U-shaped" cut-out that allows dust and debris to collect in the cabinet. Don't even bother to tell me to contact GE, because I just wasted 45 minutes that I cannot get back being transferred from person to person to no resolve.
