This unit replaces another one that lasted only 3, years. They only reason we bought it was it is a built in unit and we had the trim kit already. The last unit was a pc of garbage and I don't have much hope for this one. We're going to move, and I need this to work until house is sold

BUT™€¦ even though it was the same brand/size as our previous GE Profile™€¦we had to buy a new kit(extra $200) because the previous built in kit did not work with this one.. very aggravating.. and we had to order it which took another week..! THEN a few screw wholes were just a little off so had to redrill them.. ! I must also complain about the install direction on this KIT™€¦they were so bad..very hard to understand! The old cabinet kit was made of black metal. This new one all plastic..!

Good Microwave with Some User Interface Issues

Positives: very quiet when running and cooks fast. Beep is reasonably quiet, for a change. Impressed that the clock time resets itself from the internet via WiFi after a power loss. Can't comment on durability or reliability™€"too new. Operability: - The control panel display overlay is severely misaligned with actual contacts. We're constantly pushing the wrong/adjacent button (i.e.; we think we're pushing 0, but get 8; or 4 minutes yields 1 minute). Contributing, numbers are cramped too close together because too much space is wasted on less useful sensor cook buttons. I hope we never need to use any cooking time that is NOT a multiple of 30 seconds :). - Really miss one-touch "recall" [of last run program] button from old microwave. - Door rattles loudly when closing. As a result, closing the door without hurting your ears is a two handed operation--one to push the button in first and then the other to fully close the door, then release the button. - Control button sequencing just seems illogical. For example, "Cancel/Stop" won't cancel the timer or stop a finished timer from beeping...need to push the timer button again. It seems a lot easier to program my VCR...:). - Scan-to-Cook function in the SmartHQ app appears of limited utility at this time. I tried to scan the barcode of everything in my freezer, and nothing was supported by the smart scan feature. Guess I just don't buy enough ultra-processed junk food...:). - The reminder/interlock to put something in the microwave before starting it is probably a good idea. But combined with the control unit's functionality to timeout after a certain period of time, it is annoying. For example when I put something in the microwave and then set the time and power level to start a few minutes later, the door sensor times out, and when I go to start it wants me to open and shut the door again. - Timer alarm never shuts up; someone needs to go over there and stop it from beeping. Did not appear that you could even turn it off from the app. Why not just use your phone timer? Installation: - Trim kit installation instructions were harder to follow than most I've encountered. For example, it talked about "long screws" versus "short screws" but they were very similar, only slightly longer, and provided in the same bag. To make matters worse, the image of the "long screws" (on page one and step 8) made them look like a machined screw instead of a self-tapping metal screw. Didn't figure this out until I noticed the holes they were supposed to go in were not tapped. - The design of the trim kit requires exact precision in the opening dimensions. Others I've installed are designed to allow some flexibility in the final installation. - The "Electric Requirements" correctly states in part: "The outlet box should be located in the cabinet above the oven." But the associated diagram under "Cutout Dimensions" shows the outlet box located behind the microwave in the opening.

Had to buy this as a replacement to the one that already fit my built in opening. Door latch broke on the first one. New on makes a bit of a whirring noise when starting up that the original did not. Buttons don't actually line up either, I have to press slightly under the button I want. Just annoying and a sign of poor craftmanship that is now visible in the 3rd feature.

Do not waste your money! Purchased early with full set of GE appliances to take advantage of a financing deal. By the time I completed the kitchen and built a custom cabinet a year had passed. Microwave worked great for a month and maybe a dozen cooks, then stopped heating. Only option customer service gave me was for a $140 service call plus parts to repair. Now I have $5 yard sale microwave in a custom cabinet. Currently deciding if I want spend the money on a repair or write it off to a learning lesson. Beyond disappointed in GE.

Cannot mute the Sounds/Beeps in the Current Versio

Just purchased and installed this unit and haven't used it much. But I'm giving it a one star to get the attention of GE Engineering/Marketing about a poorly-executed, undocumented engineering upgrade to this unit that removes the sound muting feature and replaces it with WiFi connectivity to SmartHQ. Sounds like a great idea and a bonus for customers, UNLESS you're like us and the ability to mute the beeps was a KEY feature in our decision which microwave to purchase. The original model number was PCWK22U1WBB and it is sold by all major vendors as such with a sound mute button. But when major vendors order it from GE to be drop-shipped directly to customers, GE sends PCWK22U1W1BB, which has WiFi instead of sound mute. In spite of my wife's sensitivity to high-frequency beeps, we ended-up begrudgingly keeping it because we had already installed the trim kit before we figured-out the unadvertised feature change. Come on, GE, please do it right next time and stop cutting corners. This feature upgrade should have been identified as a new (i.e.; "PCWK22U2") model number and not just an engineering change, which normally do not affect feature functionality within the customer interface domain.

Serious Safety Issue and Expensive Inspection Fee

Within just 2 years of normal use, this GE Profile microwave started having a serious safety issue, it keeps running even after being turned off. This is extremely disappointing for a premium built™€‘in appliance. When I contacted GE, I was told I™€™d have to pay $125 just for a technician to inspect it, not even to fix it. For a product at this price point, this level of reliability and support is unacceptable. I expected much better quality and customer care from GE.

Best replacement for existing GE built in

This microwave replaced a built in GE profile that failed after working great for 12 years. Why only 3 stars? 1j It was impossible to figure out online if my trim kit would work, I had to bring my existing front trim to the store and I confirmed that the door opening was identical. The sheet metal tray had to be modified to work with the new microwave, but someone reasonably handy that can bend metal and drill new holes can do it. 2) The interior is a dark gray, our old one was white and was much easier to see your food inside. Maybe its a designer thing but somebody who cooks would prefer white. 3) I really don™€™t need it connected to the wifi, a cute feature when I can command it from alexa, but it doesn™€™t always work, 4) It does cook like our old one with the sensor working well for reheating, baked potatoes etc.

Poor design changes from older model

We have only had GE Profile stove, oven, built in microwave so when the microwave went out we went straight to the GE Profile and are disappointed with the changes - 1-inside is like stainless steel which makes it darker and hard to see in the microwave; 2-the buttons are smaller; 3-there is no stainless steel trim kit available so just got black and the fingerprints are unbelievable and almost impossible to get rid of without a lot of effort. We already had it installed not realizing and don™€™t want to uninstall. We™€™ll be a lot more careful next time

It has some strange new features like the LOCK that is hard to press to open the microwave after heating. Also, the add 30 seconds feature now will add 30 seconds to the timer if it is on instead of heating something for 30 seconds.

GE Profile Microwave ™€“ Repeated Failures

I™€™ve never had a microwave give me this many problems. After only 6 months, it completely stopped working and required a service technician to replace multiple internal components. Now, just three years later, it has stopped working again. On top of that, the interior coating is peeling, which is unacceptable for an appliance that™€™s supposed to be durable and safe for daily use. I purchased all matching GE Profile appliances for my kitchen, and this microwave is the only one that has repeatedly failed. Microwaves are not disposable appliances, and I should not be dealing with major failures and cosmetic deterioration in such a short time span, especially at this price point. Very disappointed in the quality and longevity of this product.

Large dent and no compensation

I received my GE Microwave on 1/20 with a large dent in it. I contacted GE and they requested I send them pictures and they would compensate me. I sent 4 pictures and haven't not heard from GE followed up with phone calls. After numerous phone calls I final was offered after my phone call on 2/5 $45 compensation for a $450 microwave the had a very large dent. Told them unacceptable a 10% compensation, its not a little scratch, ding or dent it is a very large one.

Although the microwave works as expected in heating up food, the button to open the door is plastic and mine kept popping off. The button attaches to the microwave by two flimsy springs, so even when I replaced the springs the button would still, at times, pop off if the door wasn't closed gently. I loved the look and quality of my last GE microwave which has since been discontinued. The button was metal and never popped off.

We love this microwave! The features, looks, power and capacity are all 5 star! I am rating it overall 4 due to the design. The install of the trim kit was more difficult than it needed to be. That is mostly due to getting the screws that connect the trim frame in place. The design could be better. Otherwise, we really love this microwave!!!

Nice, microwave, easy to install although the installation trim kit a bit pricey for the plastic trim. So far microwave works as expected

This MW replaces a 10-year Profile, Model PEB7226SF2SS. Would prefer that the new MW have a light colored interior. Also do something to reduce the "tinny" sound when closing. Other than that, we are pleased.

Average Microwave that hasn't broken yet.

It gets the job done as a microwave. The only reason I bought it is because i fits the trim kit for the built-in GE Microwave that died at less than 2 years old.
